About

MarshalHill

Hello, we are MarshalHill, photographers Frank Marshal & Karen Hill. We’re a husband & wife photography team who love photography and each other.

We have a vision, that when captured by the two of us, unites two perspectives that work together forming cohesive, inspired imagery.

The challenges of collaborating and reaching a common goal with our clients is a team effort, one we value and encourage. Our working goal is to create relaxed organic images with an essence of real life in both film and digital formats. We love the beauty inherent in working with film. We find inspiration in the world around us, in art, traveling, the history of photography, light, and in the simpler things in life.

Based in New York City and Savannah, we love to travel near and far. The cities that call to us to return to are Marrakech, Paris and Amsterdam. This fall, we’re headed to India and can not wait.

Our work has been widely published. Our work can be found in periodicals such as Forbes, The New York Times, Martha Stewart, Real Simple, South, Savannah and NJ Magazines. Our work has also been published on blogs such as Design Sponge and Style Me Pretty Living.

Frank attended the University Penn in photography, working under Ray K. Metzker and later with Avedon and Bruce Weber, and Karen has a BFA from Pratt Institute and an MFA from the Yale School of Art, both in Photography.

Thank you so much for your interest in our photography.

"I'm always somewhere. My favorite thing is traveling anywhere to shoot. Even hand checking the film doesn't bother me. It's always an honor to be chosen to shoot for clients where ever they are in the world."

"I always have a camera with me. I bought my first camera when I was about 9. It was a Kodak Instamatic I bought on Christmas day from the local drug store that happened to be open after I received some Christmas money as a gift. I began photographing what was close to me, my home life, friends and pets and I've been shooting ever since. My current favorite camera is my Rolleiflex 2.8, I love the square format and how quiet it is."
